Materials:
These pieces are a blend of stoneware and porcelain, finished with a Rose Ash glaze. The glaze is made from the last of the ash from David Austin Roses sourced from Maddocks Organics Farm. The clay surface is inlaid with a mixture of Rose Ash and Porcelain slip, and the pieces are further adorned with ash sprinkled directly onto the surface. A thick copper panel is on the rear of the panel which has developed a patina from the Rose Ash over several weeks.

Maddocks Organic Farm cultivated roses for Tinkture, a Rose Gin. The Rose Collection of 2022 celebrates the collaboration between Maddocks and Tinkture, incorporating the ash residue from the gin-making process and roses from the flower farm.

Care:
Although these have been sanded smooth with a diamond pad, they retain the natural texture of porcelain and ash slip, which may feel slightly rough to the touch. The metal will continue to develop a patina and bleed into the ceramic over time this is intentional and can be preserved with a dry cloth and beeswax.
